New Alberta Program To Help Immigrants Start a Small Business
New government funding programs are always being announced by various funding agencies across Canada, but the news today is that the province of Alberta has launched a new programs created to help immigrants start a small business. Â
The program that will assist immigrant entrepreneurs in Alberta will go by the name “The Immigrant Entrepreneur Program” and will be offered by Business Link.
This assistance program will include not only training but resources which will help address the needs that the immigrants who are starting out in business in the province of Alberta may have.
“The program will bolster Alberta’s economy by equipping new Albertans with the supports they need to run their businesses more effectively. Businesses that will, in turn, contribute actively to the economy, support job creation and enrich our communities,” said the Economic Development and Trade Minister Deron Bilous
More On The Immigrant Entrepreneur Program
The immigrant entrepreneur program will especially be helpful as it will include one on one support to entrepreneurs while delivering the training needed and while providing those immigrants who want to start a business with business training guide books and resources.
The major concern that the province of Alberta states is that the immigrants who are thinking of starting a small business face many barriers which include language, understanding of the local business practices and have limited access to the professional networks as immigrants. This is especially true in those rural areas of Alberta where the population of immigrants in on the rise – while resources to help immigrants startup is becoming tougher and tougher to access – said the province.
These types of assistance programs that help immigrants start up not only help support entrepreneurship but they also help create communities and grow the economy.
In regards to the Immigrant Entrepreneur Program offer to immigrant business startups in Alberta will allow for a total of $336,000 in grant funding over a period of two years.
